Mississippians for Maternal Health Care
Mississippians for Maternal Health Care was founded to address Mississippi’s postpartum depression (PPD) crisis, which impacts thousands of mothers and families. We believe the solution is simple – improving access to individualized treatments will lead to more mothers getting the care they need. A two-fold approach will help mothers in Mississippi – first, learning what treatment options are available, and second, accessing the right treatment without running into bureaucratic barriers from insurance companies or Medicaid.
Mom.ME
Mom.ME. provides peer counseling for mothers struggling with new baby adjustments, postpartum depression and anxiety; sponsors individual therapy sessions for individuals suffering from PMADs that are underinsured or uninsured; provides maternal mental health community educational classes/workshops; and teaches an 8-week pregnancy maternal education class and with a participant baby shower at the end. Mom.ME also has a diaper pantry onsite for those in need of diapers and wipes as well as car seats for all ages.
