In 2023, the Mississippi State Legislature created the Mississippi Access to Maternal Assistance (MAMA) program (SB 2781). Administered by the Office of the Mississippi Attorney General, MAMA is a website and mobile app to connect pregnant women and new mothers with resources available in Mississippi. The law requires the inclusion of resources, services and information through private organizations and public agencies, including the Mississippi Department of Health, the Department of Mental Health, the Department of Human Services, the Department of Child Protection Services, the Office of Workforce Development, the Department of Employment Security and the Division of Medicaid.
